News (8/9/23)!!

Circus in the Park!

We are having some community events in the park!
We bring the circus equipment, you bring yourselves, we all have a good time!

Where: Scootie Brown Park

Pike Street Northeast

Auburn, WA

What: We will have mats, a tightwire, balance boards, all sorts of juggling equipment, hula hoops, and more! Coach Steven and I will be there to help out anyone who would like help and spot anyone who needs it.

We will not have access to an aerial rig for these events.

All ages welcome! Parents, feel free to participate with your kids! If you have already signed a waiver, you are good to go. If you haven’t yet, we will have waivers there to sign.

When: Saturday, August 12th from 1pm-2:30pm and Saturday, August 19th from 1pm-2:30pm.

The park does have a drinking fountain but the only bathroom available is a port-o-potty. It is also supposed to be sunny, so wear sunscreen!

Speaking of waivers…

Come fall, Synapse will be switching to a new registration software.

iClassPro has been good to us, but their reporting system… leaves something to be desired. And it doesn’t mesh well with SANCA’s current registration system, so it is a headache and a half for our bookkeeper.

We will be switching to Amilia, which is the system that the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts (SANCA) and Emerald City Trapeze Arts (ECTA) both use.

If you would like to get a jump on that system and be ready for fall, you can create an account by going to https://app.amilia.com/en/Signup.

Space Update

We are still looking for a space to call home. We have been searching around from Kent to Fife and from Des Moines to Covington, but nothing has yet come up that fits all of our needs.

If you would like to help out with this search, the best things you can do are talk to your friends and everyone else and see if anyone knows anyone who might be interested in leasing their space. Basically, get the word out. And/or you can help by taking pictures of lease signs in your area and sending them to me so I can forward them to our commercial real estate agent. She will then call the listings and see if what it is meets our needs. If not, she will pitch us to them and try to see if they have other listings available that might be better for us. I do this all the time and I have no idea what the specifics of the buildings are that I am sending to her.

We are planning to move forward with having classes in the fall. We have been in contact with some of the gymnastics and parkour facilities around Auburn to see if there is a possibility of us sharing space with them until we find our own space. We have also been in contact with the Community Centers and Parks and Recreation spaces around us to see if they have rooms we can rent so we can run some select ground classes starting in fall.

Dear Synapse Students, Families, and Community Partners,

We are writing today with some bittersweet news. At the end of June, we will have to vacate the current Synapse facility due to failed negotiations with the landlord to extend our lease.

We do not yet have a new location secured. The immediate future for having our own location in the Auburn area is not clear, but we are searching, and we remain committed to securing a space that we can call home for many years to come.

What does all this mean and how does it affect current and future programming at Synapse?

·       Current session classes will continue at Synapse through June 24th as scheduled.
·       Summer session classes at Synapse are cancelled.
·       Summer camps onsite are cancelled. Registrants may be refunded or we will work with families / students to transfer credit to programs offered at SANCA Seattle or Emerald City Trapeze Arts.
·       Offsite partnership camps over the summer will continue as planned.
·       Scheduled birthday parties beginning in July will be refunded or credited based on personal preference.
·       Youth company practices will be moved to an alternate location, and previously scheduled performances will happen as scheduled.

As an alternative, we do encourage students and families to consider coming to our other two locations, SANCA Seattle and Emerald City Trapeze Arts.  We would be happy to transfer credits for use at either of these locations.

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have on the entire Synapse community and want to share our appreciation of the commitment that our students, families, and partners have had to our school. We look forward to re-establishing and expanding programming moving forward, and we encourage everyone to stay connected to our newsletter and social media for future updates and announcements.

Everyone registered in classes or camps beyond July 1 will be contacted soon with additional information.  Until then, please send questions and inquiries to office@synapsecircus.com.

We look forward to continuing to provide circus programming in the Auburn area.  We appreciate your patience as we work through these changes.

Thank you.
