Carmen Schultz

Office Manager

Carmen Schultz began her acrobatic training as a competitive gymnast in Boulder CO. With 13 years’ experience competing and coaching in gymnastics, she grew to specialize in the fundamentals of acrobatic training.  She has taught the strength, technique, flexibility, and balance skills necessary for advanced acrobatics to students of all ages and skill levels at various locations across Colorado.

Carmen began performing in the circus arts in 2004 with Fractal Tribe, as a part of a full theatrical circus production.  Since then, she has worked as an independent circus performer for Entertainment companies, Dance productions and Circus troupes at corporate events, festivals, city celebrations, private parties, and theatrical productions across Colorado and nationally. In 2011, she became a founding partner of the Academy of Circus Elements, a company that brought circus skills and performance opportunities to students of all ages and abilities in Denver. Later, she earned a two-year degree in Massage Therapy from the Colorado School of Healing Arts.  Carmen began practicing sport massage therapy working with a wide range of athletes. This has provided her with a deeper understanding of anatomy, good training practice, and acrobatic movement.

In 2016 she began working as the Department Manager for both the Acrobatics and Specialty programs at the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts (SANCA) in Seattle, WA.  She managed over 20 coaches in scheduling, evaluations, curriculum design and coach training. Near the end of 2017 she accepted a position in Portland, Maine as their Program Director where she was able to dive more fully into writing curriculum and managing the inter-relations of a recreational circus program, Youth performance troupe and a professional program for adults.

Carmen is over the moon with excitement to be working with Synapse Circus Center as their Office manager where she will help bring the joy of circus to the community in a more accessible way.
