Hula Hoop FUNdamentals

In this workshop, you will get your body moving and touch back into your child heart as you spin into a new world of hula hooping! You will learn the basics and fundamentals of waist hooping as well as learn a fun routine to take home to show or teach your friends and family! Bio for Mary Gargett
Mary Gargett is a vibrant international circus performer hailing from Bellingham, WA. Her specialties include hula-hoop, stilt walking, aerial hoop, acrobatics, fire and character work.
She has performed with a variety of companies including Venardos Circus, March Fourth Marching Band, Quixotic Fusion, Animate Objects Physical Theatre, Belle Circus, Shanghai Productions and SANCA’s professional performance collective. Her performance travels have taken her to just about every state in the US, China, Costa Rica, Jamaica, New Zealand, Australia and Grand Turk. In 2015 she graduated from circus school at SANCA (School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts) where she specialized in aerial hoop and hula-hoop. She is a main hula-hoop instructor for the global yoga festival, Wanderlust Festival. She has taught classes and workshops all over the states and world at different circus spaces, hula-hoop gatherings, yoga studios, dance studios, festivals, private events and more.
She currently trains and is based out of Tauranga, New Zealand. When she’s not training, you can find her performing all over the world as well as coaching a variety of circus disciplines through workshops, mini series and private lessons. She has explored many forms of movement since the age of 4 from dance, acrobatics, cheerleading, circus arts and more! She incorporates all the elements of performance, dance and theater she’s learned over the years into her captivating presence and character she becomes on stage. Mary is excited to share this juicy knowledge and experience to her students. She loves the beauty and passion of performance art, the endless possibilities and all that we can learn from one another.
